Introduction:
Apelin-12, one of the most potent apelin peptides, lowers blood pressure via a nitric oxide-dependent mechanism. It is also involved in the central control of feeding by stimulating cholecystokinin (CCK) secretion.Apelin-12 levels also were inversely correlated with levels of nt-proBNP.
Test principle:
This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. A monoclonal antibody specific for Apelin-12 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any Apelin-12 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. An enzyme-linked monoclonal antibody specific for Apelin-12 is added to the wells.
