Introduction:In chemistry, especially biochemistry, a fatty acid is a carboxylic acid often with a long unbranched aliphatic tail (chain), which is either saturated or unsaturated.Most of the natural fatty acids have an even number of carbon atoms, because their biosynthesis involves acetyl-CoA, a coenzyme carrying a two-carbon-atom group.
Test principle:This assay employs the quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique. A monoclonal antibody specific for FFA has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any FFA present is bound by the immobilized antibody. An enzyme-linked monoclonal antibody specific for FFA is added to the wells.
